Abstract :
Transportation is one of the rapidly developing fields and is directly connected with the social economic growth of a country. At the same time, it is one of the major sources of emission production, which has an enormous impact in the global environment and all living beings. Currently, emission estimation methods are very expensive which are used only once or twice a year. However, we can estimate emission in real time by using traffic simulator and emission estimation system. In this paper, we present a heterogeneous communication platform between KTH-TPMA traffic simulator and emission estimation system to measure real time traffic emission. This platform is implemented using CORBA and web service. In CORBA, synchronous and asynchronous communication methods are implemented in three different ways, which are individual, collection, and thread communication modes. We find that CORBA asynchronous communication in collection mode is the most efficient way to share real time vehicle information between traffic simulator and emission estimation system.
