Abstract
In this paper, a microcontroller based portable wind speed detection and wind direction monitoring system has been designed as well as developed. An infra-red light-emitting diode (LED) and a photo diode has been used as a transmitter and receiver respectively. The resolution of optical sensor for measuring speed is six pulses per rotation. The designed system is used to find out the all possible common wind direction such as south, east, north, west, north-west, north east, south-west, southeast etc. Moreover, the system is able to show the angle of wind. A lucrative LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) has been used to display the speed and the wind direction angle. The details of the design methodology and the expected result have been shown in following section.
