Abstract :
The basic characteristics of randomness and vacillation of wind energy would have a drastic effect on power system frequency together with the development of wind power. The present world is seeing an increasing amount of wind energy hence it is essential for wind farm to control the frequency as well as power. It was observed that output frequency fluctuations of wind farm integrated power system can be maintained in the acceptable range up to 10% of the total capacity of wind generator connected with the grid system by using conventional pitch controller. Whereas this paper represents a new design of pitch controller model to enhance the capacity of wind generator up to 20% of the total capacity by maintaining power system frequency to the acceptable range. Real wind speed data have been considered for this study to obtain the realistic responses. PSCAD/EMTDC software has been used for simulation analysis and it is seen that the proposed pitch controller model shows better performance than conventional pitch controller model.
