Abstract :
This paper designed a power management chip which was applied to passive methanol fuel cell. This chip takes 1×/1.33×/1.5×/2× adaptive charge pump module as the core module. It efficiently changes the unstable output voltage of passive methanol fuel cells into a constant output voltage. The largest output current of this chip reaches up to 150mA, and have a small static current. This chip is working at skipping cycles mode, when the load current is very small. It sharply reduced the loss of switching energy, and improves the efficiency light-load conversion efficiency. In consequence of there need a very small amount capacitances in the peripheral circuit, and we do not need inductance. So it has great characteristics of EMI, and has a Low-cost. This design has been completed based on the 0.5μm CMOS process, and the simulation results shows that this chip could efficiently change the unstable output voltage of passive methanol fuel cells into a constant output voltage.
