Abstract :
In this contribution, a Direction Finding (DF) compact array made of electrically small double-polarized passive radiating element in the 100MHz-1GHz frequency band is presented, and the preliminary results discussed. This solution is devised for the low band (VHF / UHF) subsystem of an airborne ELINT system installed by Elettronica S.p.A. on two SIGINT aircrafts. The main driving factors of the design process which led to the proposed solution were the very challenging requirements and platform constraints.
