Abstract :
As wind power penetration increases rapidly, reasonable assessment of wind power capacity credit becomes an important aspect of power system. Considering output characteristics of wind generators, an assessment model of wind power capacity credit based on Monte-Carlo simulation is established in the paper. The most commonly-used assessment indexes of wind power capacity credit are effective load carrying capability, equivalent firm capacity and equivalent conventional capacity. The wind power capacity credit under different assessment indexes is calculated in IEEE-RTS test system. The method to choose appropriate assessment index is given by analysis of the simulation results and the practical application.
