Abstract :
An active front-end converter that can provide multi-phase isolated DC buses is proposed in this paper. It supplies DC buses for 5 level medium voltage inverters that typically have an isolated transformer and diode rectifiers and it has no regeneration capability. The proposed DC bus control scheme can be used in all four quadrants and has less current harmonics back to the grid. The results of a 746 kW (1000HP) load test are also described.
