Abstract :
Recently, because of the rapid development of power devices, high-power isolated DC-DC converters using medium-frequency (MF) transformers have been proposed. In order to realize a high-power-density isolated DC-DC converter, it is important to analyze losses of the transformers because the volume of the MF transformer is one of the large parts in the DC-DC converter. In this paper, a procedure for separating the iron loss into hysteresis and eddy-current losses is presented. The validity of the separation procedure is then considered by comparing the calculation results with the results of the analysis method. Furthermore, the temperature dependencies of the iron loss will be considered by the experiments.
