Abstract
Active Distribution Network (ADN) has been considered as an efficient way to integrate high penetration of distributed energy within distribution electrical systems. The current challenge of operating an ADN is lack of an appropriate energy management system (EMS) for system operators. In this paper, we propose the framework design of EMS of ADN based on some specific ADN technical requirements, such as the ability of actively adjusting loads and generators to control the tied power flow with transmission systems, and the ability of flexible topology adjustments to support closed-loop operation for a highly reliable power supply. The key factors affecting the optimal operation of ADN is also summarized in the paper. The framework and main functions of the Operation Management System of the ADN are proposed, and the key technologies are identified.
