Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel single-stage AC-DC driver for supplying a T8-type light-emitting-diode (LED) lamp with high power-factor (PF). The presented AC-DC driver integrates a dual boost converter with coupled inductors and a half-bridge series-resonant converter into a single-stage power conversion topology. Operational principles and experimental results of one T8-type LED lamp with a rated power of 18 W operating at 50 kHz switching frequency with 110 V-rms line input voltage are presented. Satisfactory results demonstrate the feasibilities of the proposed driver. Moreover, the features of the driver are cost-effectiveness, high power factor (PF>0.99), low input current total-harmonic-distortion (THD<;4%), high circuit efficiency (>90%), and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) obtained on both two power switches.
