Abstract :
This paper deals with a new technology called Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation. It is a method by which a simulation is carried out in real time (RT). In this system, a real product (Inverter) is used as a controller instead of a software-based controller; the power circuit, induction motor and machine (crane) are all modeled and loaded into an RT simulator. In this HIL simulation, the motor drive simulation cycle is as short as 10μsec to ensure the accuracy. Furthermore, the movement of the crane is shown as a 3D animation in real time. According to the experiment result, HIL simulation shows its merits of efficiency increase, reliability and safety.
