Title :
Expansion of operating range and improvement of torque response of PMSM drive by using Model Predictive Control
Abstract :
This paper describes expansion of operating range and improvement of torque response of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive by using Model Predictive Control (MPC). Controller based on MPC selects the voltage vector of inverter by predicting and evaluating future states (torcue, current) of PMSM. Proposed torque control system of PMSM based on MPC makes it possible to drive PMSM in overmodulation mode (including rectangular-wave mode) of inverter in addition to linear mode. In this paper, performance of proposed method is shown by simulation that proposed MPC control is compared and evaluated with high gain conventional PI-based vector control about expansion of operating range and improvement of torque response.
