Abstract :
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) flickermeter is designed based on the flicker caused by amplitude modulation (AM) voltage. Interharmonics and modulated harmonics, existing commonly in power system, also cause flicker. It is a problem whether IEC flickermeter can accurately detect flicker caused by interharmonics or modulated harmonics. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the detecting range of IEC flickermeter in regard to flicker caused by interharmonics and modulated harmonics. In this paper, IEC flickermeter model and flux mathematical model are established. Using AM voltage as the input signal of two models, flux fluctuation frequency, flux fluctuation value and flicker value are obtained. And the relations hip between flux and flicker can be determined by fitting vast amounts of data of AM voltage. Meanwhile, the effective detecting range of IEC flickermeter is discussed on the basis of the relationship.
