Abstract
A study evaluating the iron loss of a developed iron powder core under DC bias conditions with sinusoidal and square magnetizing voltage waveforms was conducted. It was found that the iron loss of the powder core decreases when the DC bias magnetic flux density increases. Also, the variation in the iron loss of the core material caused by the difference in the magnetizing voltage waveform is smaller than that of a conventional steel core. Hence, the developed core material is suitable for applications such as inductors used in power converters.
