Abstract :
The paper introduces development of the power inverter for the Power Conditioning System (PCS) for the middle scale Photo Voltaic (PV) power plants. The paper introduces a 100kW-rated PCS for outdoor installation. The feature of PCSs is in cooling. The 100kW PCS is cooled only by natural convection and it is the world first PCS eliminating the cooling fans, in this capacity range for outdoor installation. In the development, the heat transfers both from inside and outside of the enclosure have been minimized. Furthermore, the PCS has been developed by solving contradictory requirements where good cooling needs sufficient air flow but good protection from weather needs narrow openings. The features of the 100kW PCS offer short installation term at PV plants and also economical maintenance in the life cycle.
