Abstract :
A compact LTE tablet computer antenna with octaband operation is proposed by attaching a C-shaped parasitic monopole strip on the back side of the monopole antenna. The proposed antenna provides the operating impedance bandwidths of 264 / 997 MHz at the LTE bands, respectively. Given that this overall dimension is only 35 × 10 × 0.8 mm3, the proposed planar monopole antenna also provides more than 22% reduction in antenna size over that of the conventional ones. Meanwhile, the measured antenna efficiencies and peak gains are closely 60 / 66 % and 2.0 / 3.2 dBi for the LTE bands, respectively.
