Abstract
A four element antenna system composed of similar dual-band WLAN antennas applicable to compact access point device is proposed. The volume of the element antenna is 10 × 5 × 0.8 mm3 only. This antenna system can cover both the 2.4 and 5 GHz ISM bands and is hence applicable to wireless local area network (WLAN) uses. Antenna diversity is achieved by using spatial diversity and pattern diversity. Simulation and measurement results demonstrate good radiation characteristics and a fair isolation performance.
