Abstract :
A miniature dual-band patch antenna loaded with mushroom-structure is proposed. Two arrays of mushroom-structures are symmetrically positioned under the radiating edges of an aperture-coupled patch. With the capacitive and inductive loading from the mushroom-structure, the patch antenna achieves a frequency reduction of 74.5% compared with the unloaded one in the same dimensions and a dual band with frequency ratio of 1.43. In addition, symmetrical radiation and low cross-polarization are obtained because of the symmetrical loading structures.
