Abstract
In this paper, a miniaturized tag antenna with BAP (Battery-Assisted Passive Tag) technique is proposed for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) applications. Compared with conventional passive tag antennas used for RFID, the BAP technique can help increase read rang significantly. Moreover, a modified dipole with tip-loading and a loop is utilized to make the input impedance of the designed tag antenna matched conjugately to the chip impedance. The antenna was fabricated on FR-4 dielectric substrate with a compact size (75×47× 0.127 mm3). The simulated results show that the proposed antenna obtained nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern and a maximum gain 1.9dBi. Theoretical calculated and measured increase in read rang are in good agreement.
