Abstract :
A new dual-band wheel slot antenna for WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) applications is designed in this paper. The basis of the wheel slot antenna is a circle patch antenna fed by CPW (coplanar waveguide). Five slots intersecting at the center of the patch are introduced to divide the center patch into five asymmetrical parts. The gap between the center patch and the ground is combined with the five slots to a whole which looks like a wheel. The size of the antenna printed on FR4 substrate is 28mm × 30mm × 2.5mm. Measurement results show that the antenna is of dual bands characteristics over 330 MHz (2.39-2.72 GHz) and 1180 MHz (4.85-6.03 GHz) which meet the requirements of IEEE 802.11 b/g/a in WLAN. Detail simulation and measurement results are discussed in this paper.
