Abstract :
A differential dual-band slot antenna is proposed. Dual bands are realized using meander slots in the ground plane. Compared with the conventional half-wavelength antenna, the proposed antenna has a compact size of 60 mm × 60 mm (0.36 λ1 × 0.36λ1, λ1 is the guided wavelength at f1). In order to improve the radiation performance at f1, a novel periodic structure of dual-band left-handed materials (LHMs) is presented. The results show that the differential dual-band slot antenna with a LHMs cover can operate at 0.9 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, and the radiation performance is improved. Also, the differential dual-band slot antenna with LHMs has a wider impedance bandwidth than that of antenna without LHMs.
