Abstract :
A novel miniaturized Vivaldi antenna is presented in this paper. Two kinds of regular slot edge (RSE) structures are employed in this antenna. The transversal slot edges help to extend the low-end operating frequency and improve the radiation characteristics, while the longitudinal ones have the potential to inhibit the back lobe, contributing to the enhancement of antenna gain. Based on the antenna element, a wideband 1×5 E-plane Vivaldi antenna array is designed with a total gain of 10.9-13.7 dBi. This array is able to work from 8 to 12 GHz and scan angle up to 22°.
