Abstract
Electromagnetic (EM) wave tunneling through an epsilon-negative (ENG) waveguide has been realized when it paired with mu-negative (MNG) waveguide. The ENG waveguide is imitated by a hollow metallic waveguide which operating below cutoff frequency. The MNG waveguide is implemented by standard waveguide filled with square split resonate rings (SSRRs). The dimensions of the MNG waveguide differ from the ENG and it is in the propagate state at the tunneling frequency. This phenomenon is simulated by CST Microwave Studio and then verified by the microwave experiments. They are in excellent agreement. This structure may have important potential application in sub-wavelength high power filter.
