  • Abstract
The current paper discusses the implementation of super capacitors in standalone photovoltaic installations. An experimental study of such a system is carried, where the aim is to verify that the usage of super capacitors can minimize the fluctuations of the output power. A comparison between a conventional system and a system with super capacitors is made. The experimental study is carried out using HIT and CIS modules, where different connections between the PV modules and the capacitors are inspected. Results from the studies show that using super capacitors leads to a more stable work of the system during partial shadowing and fluctuations in the solar irradiance. The results can be used as a basis to systemize basic requirements where connecting photovoltaic and super capacitors.
