Abstract
In this paper, a performance comparison of Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) controlled by Model Predictive Current Control (MPC) and closed loop Sine Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) is presented. Basic concepts, operating principles, control diagrams and results are used to provide a comparison between the SPWM and MPC. Both methods are compared using simulations, results and the graphs are drawn. The results show that, with the MPC technique the overall closed loop performance demonstrates robustness in case of sudden dynamic changes and accurate current tracking capability.
