Abstract :
The photovoltaics is approaching the threshold of economical feasibility and various incentives for its development are being reduced in favour of low feed-in tariffs. For the household, the benefits from having a PV-system are shifting from selling energy to self consumption of PV energy. The paper investigates the sizing of PV-system for a household with feed-in tariffs lower than purchase tariffs. The calculations are performed for a full year period with recorded irradiance data and household energy consumption profiles. The use of optional short-term energy storage has also been investigated. The results are presented in respect to PV vs household sizing and feed-in vs purchase tariff ratios.
