Abstract
Together with the development of mobile technology, smart mobile devices have become increasingly efficient and powerful, leading to a noticeable growth in both the number of users and their requirements. Moreover, multimedia streaming to these advanced mobile devices has become widespread. Availability of faster processors and greater memory resources resulted in possibility of effective and efficient sound processing on mobile devices. On the other hand, none of the commonly used mobile operating systems does not provide sufficient support for this type of operations. Therefore, we integrate time-scale modification for audio signals into Android system such that audio capabilities improves. Available methods and algorithms that can be used to achieve this effect are described and discussed in this paper. Moreover, practical aspects of this problem are taken under consideration. Performance measurements for selected algorithms are conducted. Obtained results allow to determine what methods can be used to integrate time-scale modification for audio signals on mobile devices, what are the limitations and how they can be eliminated.
