Abstract :
Dynamic reconfiguration method and system for intelligent electronic devices in smart substation are researched UPnP is introduced and used in combination with IEC 61850 information model and services to realize IED Plug and Play and states supervision. A design method of universal IED is studied The Petri Net fault diagnosis method is chosen to process state assessment online. The paper also provides two dynamic reconfiguration modes, i.e. mirror mode and universal mode, to form a safe and reasonable procedure to reconstruct the main automation functions in the standby IED from an operating IED in the event of software failures or hardware faults. A demo universal IED and a reconfiguration host are built up to test functions of plug and play, state supervision, state assessment and dynamic reconfiguration. The results show that UPnP can effectively achieve IED discovery, supervision, administration and controlling in substation bay level network and fully meet the requirements of plug and play. The monitored state variables can intuitively reflect the operation status of IEDs. The implemented dynamic reconfiguration method has important application value in providing secure alternative options and higher availability for modern substation automation system.
