Abstract :
The vulnerability of power grid has been given an increasing significance under the pressure of catastrophic failures in power grids that have occurred recent years. The traditional vulnerability assessments are now challenged. In this paper, the community based method is proposed. The vulnerable lines that will result in power grid division and loads rejection are selected and ranked by the degree and weight of the communities. Then this method is compared with the topology based method and extended topology based method in IEEE-118 system. The results show that community based method can effectively and accurately identify the vulnerable lines in power grids.
