Abstract :
Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) will be more popular during the next decade as Smart Grid implementations are taking shape in many developed countries. Synchronize charging of a number of PEVs within a sub-power distribution zone constitutes a major challenge for energy service providers. This paper presents a detailed example on how PEVs can affect the overall load within a distribution area, then discusses in details a service admission control algorithm for PEVs in a Smart Grid environment. The paper introduces a mathematical model and analysis for the proposed PEV Service Admission Control (PEVSAC) while considering three types of service requests for charging: new, stand-by and advance.
