Abstract
We propose a bismuth-based actively and harmonically mode-locked short-cavity fiber laser. A 1.5-m-long bismuth-oxide-based nonlinear erbium-doped fiber is used as both a gain medium and a noise suppressor, and ultra-stable 10GHz short pulses are generated.
