Abstract :
Recent progress in a single-mode multicore fiber for high-capacity long-haul space-division multiplexing (SDM) transmission is reviewed, focusing on the design issues such as crosstalk suppression, core-density improvement, and core-arrangement optimization. A few-mode multicore fiber for dense SDM transmission is also briefly described.
