Abstract
Community- and home-based care services for elderly people seem to provide solutions for the challenges of demographic change in many big cities in China and Europe. However, to guarantee success, they need to be developed systematically. This paper gives an overview on how systematic service development and testing is applied to a self-service-health check system in a community in Beijing. Furthermore, the paper illustrates how innovative approaches for visualization and service testing, like using virtual reality test beds and living-lab environments, help to integrate elderly people into the development of senior care services.
