Abstract :
Liquid Crystals have large electro-optic coefficients which make them suitable materials for a number of elements of 3D displays. This paper considers some of the issues relating to these elements, including the polarization modulation and phase modulation that can be obtained with liquid crystal elements as well as the resolution that can be achieved using liquid crystal layers. In particular the use of ferroelectric liquid crystal fast shutters will be discussed.
