Abstract :
A Wireless Data Acquisition System (WDAS) based on XBee modules and using Field Effect Transistors (FETs) type microsensors for remote sensing and monitoring ions concentration in aqueous solutions, was designed, implemented and experimentally evaluated with good results. The system comprises two workstations, the Data Acquisition Workstation (DAW) and the Central Processing Workstation (CPW). The former is based on a PIC microcontroller and the second is based on a Virtual Instrument (VI) specifically designed with LabVIEW for this application. The acquired data are wireless sent by the DAW to the CPW by means of a MaxStream XBee wireless communication module. The VI guarantees the processing, storage and screen view of the data acquired by the DAW, and also has an alarm mode to warn when the data collected are beyond of the allowable range of concentration, previously established. The experimental evaluation of the system corroborated its good performance.
