Abstract :
This paper contributes towards further understanding the electrical treeing phenomena in epoxy nanocomposites; 5 %wt MgO, Si2O and Al2O3 nanofillers mixed with epoxy. Distinct features are observed in the time-evolution of the electrical tree Partial Discharges (PDs). Plots of the average PD magnitudes recorded every second throughout the tree life are characterized by distinct clusters (classes) of different PD magnitudes and each cluster has unique PD Phase Resolved Pattern (PDPRP). The observed PD time-evolution trends are consistent with the state of the art knowledge on electrical treeing phenomena in nanocomposite dielectrics.
