Abstract :
In this paper, we present a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) that effectively radiates at three frequency bands to extract power from ambient radio waves for energy scavenging. The proposed PIFA has its operation in the wireless communication bands of GSM 900, DCS 1800 and Wi-Fi 2.4GHz, yet it only occupies a small printed area of 20×40 mm2 on the system circuit board. Such small size with appreciable gain across the band make proposed antenna suitable for compact mobile RF energy scavenging systems.
