Abstract :
A Dual-wideband printed rectangular monopole antenna (PRMA) is proposed for simultaneously satisfying (WLAN) and (WiMAX) applications. The proposed antenna composed of a scissor-shaped parasitic plate, is used to reduce unwanted out of band antenna responses. It also allows control of the two bands o f o p e ration by varying it´s dimensions. Two slots are introduced in the ground plane to excite anti-resonance modes for increased rejection of undesired frequencies. The fractional impedance bandwidth below -10 dB return loss is 68.8% from frequencies 2.0 to 4.1 GHz. Whilst it is 36.5% for frequencies 5.17 to 7.48 GHz. These two frequency ranges will cover LET 2300/2500 (23052400MHz/ 2500-2690MHz), all the 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN bands and 2.5/3.5/5.5 GHz WiMAX bands. The antenna has been designed and optimized by using CST´s Microwave Studio software.
