Abstract :
In order to generate optical millimeter wave signals, two cascaded Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZMs) are utilized. The first MZM modulates electric signals in the form of single side-band. Optical single side-band (OSSB) approach is a method to overcome the fiber chromatic dispersion effect for long distance communications. Two OSSB channels´ frequencies are then upgraded to 60 GHz band in the optical domain. RF power adjustment is critical to decrease unwanted harmonics´ interference effect. Simulation model is examined for two 60 GHz sub-bands transmission. The study is done for a single mode fiber with attenuation of 0.1 dB/km, and chromatic dispersion factor of 16 ps/(nm·km). Results are presented and the performance of the suggested approach is discussed.
