  • Abstract
With the continuous development and improvement as well as the wide application in the digital area, the digital media technology affects each industry more and more profoundly. Meantime, the fast growing digital media technology also provides brand new contents to the modern product design. The new contents not only broaden the technological space and cultural space for the design process, but also impose significant impact on aesthetic shape of products. The revolutionary technology innovation changes not only the contents and method of product design, but also the structure, functions, and aesthetic characteristics of products, consumption habit, and social status quo. Like many post-modern product designs, the developing digital media technology will challenge the modern functionalism design. With the application of the digital media technology, we must rethink about the problems related to functions, society, technology impact on design, and materials.
