  • Abstract
    A design and simulation of the laser beam shaping system which can be used in free space optical communication transmitter head prototype are presented. The design of refraction beam shaper has been performed and verified in optical design software ZEMAX. Because a Top-hat beam source is less affected by turbulence in atmosphere comparing with a Gaussian beam source, the scintillation index of the top-hat beam is also discussed.
