Abstract
We present a straightforward approach for numerically solving the multimode generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We analyze the strengths of nonlinear intermodal processes and their contribution to spectral broadening, leading to supercontinuum generation in a three-hole silica suspended-core fiber, utilizing our numerical solver. A good agreement was found with experimental results. Also, we describe a recent development of a high-performance interferometer capable of measuring vibrations of solid surfaces with unprecedented resolution using the stroboscopic white-light interferometer technique. Our results push the performance of stroboscopic white-light interferometer vibration analysis to new limits.
