Abstract :
There are many researchers devote themselves to the architecture design and enabling technologies of Internet of things (IoT). EPCglobal architecture framework is a collection of standard specifications utilizing RFID technology and IEEE 1451 is a set of standards defining data exchange format and communication protocols for transducer. We propose an IoT framework based on adding IEEE 1451 transducer capability to EPCglobal architecture framework. In IoT applications, the versatile data carriers such as tags and transducers must be taken into consideration. The identify layer of EPCglobal architecture framework gathers and processes the raw data of identification. In this paper, we present uniform electronic product coding (EPC) schemes - SGXIN to identify IEEE 1451 transducers like Serialized Global Trade Item Number (SGTIN) for tags in RFID applications. The issues of how to make a consistent expression of the raw data gathering at identify layer is explained. By unifying the raw data from different data carriers, we can process more versatile data carriers for IoT applications. This mechanism plays a fundamental role to integrate IEEE 1451 transducer capability with EPCglobal architecture framework.
