Abstract
In this paper, the performance of a model predictive control algorithm for an 3L-NPC converter equipped with SiC neutral point diodes is investigated, regarding the overall converter power losses, the loss distribution and the output waveform quality. The control scheme takes into account the reduced switching losses in the commutations involving the SiC diodes to achieve lower overall losses without neglecting the output current waveform quality. Simulations show the tuning of the controller and the effectiveness of the proposed method.
