Abstract
In this paper, we propose a new hardware design of 8 × 8 multiple-input multiple-output - orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system which has floating-point data processors in its receiver. For the hardware design of MIMO-OFDM systems, it is efficient to use fixed-point data processing in terms of high speed processing time and low power consumption. However, under some of poor wireless communication environments, a floating-point data processing is required because of the accurate calculation for the MIMO decoding. In this report, high accuracy and real-time processing of MIMO decoding are realized by using an application specific instruction-set processor (ASIP). The performance of the proposed system is also evaluated and explored in this report.
