Abstract
This paper presents the use of two-phase interleaved boost converters for distributed generation. Two circuit topologies, the discrete-inductor two-phase boost and the integrated-magnetic two-phase boost converters are compared. The various CCM and DCM modes of each converter are identified, together with their current waveforms and sub-modes of operation. The CCM-DCM mode map of each converter is constructed, and the boundary conditions and K-parameters of both converters are presented. Experimental results from a 3.6 kW prototype are used to validate the theory.
