  • Abstract
    This paper presents the Microwave Imager (MWI) instrument, a microwave radiometer that is being developed for the MetOp Second Generation Programme. The MWI is a conically scanning radiometer and it will provide, in 2021-2042 timeframe, cloud and precipitation observations, snow and sea-ice coverage as well as gross profiles of water vapour and temperature.
