  • Abstract
This case study showcases the innovative use of ICT within Mauritius. It is shown how the implementation of commercial-off-the-shelf application software has enabled Mauritian Government organisations to adopt global best practice. The paper focusses on revenue management, with particular reference to Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) and Central Electricity Board (CEB), and how the achievements at these two organisations could be used as a template for other revenue collecting agencies within Mauritius. As Mauritius has built-up considerable skills and expertise in the domain public revenue collection and disbursement, potential ways of applying the existing competence and of replicating the established solutions to assist other departments will be discussed. The paper further shows how - based on the solid platform created within Mauritius - new innovative technologies, such as Big Data, Cloud Computing or mobile applications can easily be deployed.
