  • Abstract
In this paper the utilization of open-loop resonators between traces in microstrip serpentine delay lines is proposed. Grounded guards with vias are conventionally used on serpentine delay line in order to improve signal attenuation. The application of open-loop resonator between serpentine delay line traces improves the signal attenuation in comparison with only using grounded guards. Moreover, using open-loop resonators don´t have the disadvantages of grounded guards with vias, such as the transmitted noise to traces from the ground, and higher cost of the fabrication process. In addition, simulation results show that the achievable delay from the serpentine delay line increases by employing open-loop resonators rather than the grounding vias.
