  • Abstract
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is one of the common disorders among people, although it has not been properly considered as a serious health problem; Most of the patients are still unaware of their disorder while they are suffering from its aftereffects. In this paper, a diagnostic solution based on telemedicine systems has been introduced. Blood oxygen saturation percentage (Spo2) is obtained from the patient, transmitted to a microcontroller and is sent to an Android-based smart phone via Bluetooth. This system provides the patients with online monitoring of their Spo2 to detect OSA. The system runs an alarm in condition of OSA detection and worthwhile the photoplethysmography data is saved in the phone memory which allows the patients to send their data to a physician present in a health center to get the essential advice. This telemedicine system enables real time monitoring in order to detect apnea episodes in patients with OSA and helps them follow up their health condition and treatment if necessary.
